Henri Nouwen, Harvard and Leadership

Henri Nouwen, Harvard and Leadership

We had small group last night led by the every capable Ryan. She is the only mom I know who has taken boxing lessons, loves the Bible and pleasantly facilitates a great Bible study. She did so last night, without boxing. It was about the last chapter in Henri Nouwen’s “In the Name of Jesus.” I was struck by “What… Read more →

Experts at beauty:innocents:purity

We in Europe and the West are experts at beauty, innocents and purity. Many countries and continents are. We who live there also allow those virtues to become corrupted. Stop the trend, do something about it. Embrace true beauty today. Delight in innocents. Celebrate the joy of purity. Influence those around you today to do the same. Crashing Ideas Together

Crashing Ideas Together

I’ve taken a holiday from blog writing and almost from micro-blogging. I’ve been working very hard at smashing ideas together and then trying to knit them back together in different ways. Imagine tying a large apple on the end of a string and a small melon on the end of another. Now, take each string in a different hand and… Read more →

It is still a shift for me but I am enjoying the ride. Here is a presentation from SXSW that found its way to me via an email. I pass it on to you. Enjoy. SXSW –… Read more →

Missional Love Meets Needs

Missional Love Meets Needs

In our ‘ungroup’ we have been talking about a book called “True Faced” (Link to Amazon since, oddly, this Christian book cannot be found on Christianbooks.com). ‘Ungroup’ is a group that hangs out together Tuesday nights and talks about life, the Bible, politics and laughs a lot.  Well, we got to talking about love in the book and Jason quoted… Read more →

Yum: Heart Attach on a plate

Yum: Heart Attach on a plate

I made this for lunch…it was great. It’s a beef patty with the center cut out a sunny side up egg put in the middle. The cut out part was cooked on the side and added in as a ‘hat’ later. Seasoned it with jalapeno cheese, smoke seasoning, crushed red pepper and some seasonings for grilled meat. It was amazing…. Read more →

Interaction also gives meaning

Interaction also gives meaning

I’ve been thinking for some time now that the way we interact with a topic, theme or idea effects the way we think and feel about it as well. I guess this is simple and elemental to many folks.  But I’ve been doing an experiment with a journal. So, I made an oddly shaped journal and began to take it… Read more →

Doing something radical after Easter

Doing something radical after Easter

Easter is quickly coming upon us. You know ’cause the candy has been in the stores for a while now. It has been a long time since I got into Easter candy. One year I gave up all sugar for Lent. No candy that year. I am thinking about doing something radical this year after Easter. Lots of folks do… Read more →
