El primer resultado del Proyecto de Puentes y Barreras fue un informe titulado El Evangelio y la posmodernidad. Este informe presentó la existencia de la posmodernidad en España y sus implicaciones filosóficas para la Iglesia Evangélica en España. Its purpose is to explore the practical strategic considerations of postmodernism in the Spanish church context. It will try to answer such questions as: What kinds of ministries tend to work in postmodern contexts and which do not? What does a postmodern sensitive church look like? What kinds of issues are postmodern and which are national, local or personal? What is the general pattern of evangelism in postmodern contexts and how does it differ from more traditional models? What do we really know about evangelism and churches in a postmodern context and what do we not yet know? What do we know about postmodernism in the Spanish church context and what do we not yet know? What are some ideas that can be explored and experimented with? Predominate Philosophies 2 ~ Postmodernism (Word): ES Un comentario muy común entre los misiólogos es que Europa y aun Norte América están experimentando un cambio hacia al post-Cristianismo.  Algunos hasta llegan a  decir que Europa ya es post-Cristiana. Creo que estos comentarios tienen mucha razón. No obstante, creo que también estos comentarios esconden el asunto más importante. Quisiera sugerir que el asunto más importante no es el post-Cristianismo sino la posmodernidad. El mundo occidental está sufriendo un cambio cultural rápido de una cosmovisión a otra. Este cambio está afectando la manera en que la religión y el Cristianismo son percibidos por los que han sufrido este cambio de cosmovisión o tienen algunos aspectos de la nueva cosmovisión. Es este cambio de cosmovisión y el hecho de que la Iglesia no entiende ni se ha ajustado a él, en gran medida, es la causa del rechazo en general de la religión organizada y de forma más especifica, la Iglesia Evangélica en Europa y a menor medida en los Estados Unidos. ~ Postmodernism (Word): En Just over 500 years ago a philosophical tidal wave called the Renaissance inundated and overwhelmed the ancient western world. It was the first wave in a philosophical movement called Modernism. This new way of thinking not only changed the way the westerners perceived themselves but completely changed the way they saw their world. Modernism overwhelmed ancient western society; it also had a profound impact on the ancient western Church. The theological response to modernism was the Reformation. The Protestant Church was conceived, born and has matured in the modern age. Now a new philosophical tidal wave is breaking on western society. It is every bit as revolutionary as modernism and it is as different from modernism as modernism was from ancient thought. The new wave is called postmodernism. Already it is having a profound impact on the way western people view their world, themselves and the Gospel. It too, will profoundly impact the Church. The way the Modern Church responds to this new philosophical tidal wave will determine whether we reap a new and exciting harvest or whether postmodern society will set us aside as irrelevant.
