“Is my life worth reproducing as a disciple of Christ?”
Strong question. Just like we say that the family is the building block of society we need to say that a life lived in clear pursuit of Christ is worth being reproduced and that ‘reproduction value’ is the building block of reproducing churches.
I am a big fan of internet search. Since some of the search engines are built on the popularity of web pages and products the first few hits on a topic or word mean that most folks think about those things. So, I did a search on “reproducing disciples” in Amazon.com. It came up with only four books. Here they are:
- Transforming Discipleship: Making Disciples a Few at a Time by Greg Ogden
- Organic Church: Growing Faith Where Life Happens by Neil Cole
- Breaking the Missional Code: Your Church Can Become a Missionary in Your Community by Ed Stetzer
- Conformed to His Image by Kenneth D. Boa (I am currently reading this one)
In this case these are probably not the absolutely most popular books on reproducing disciples but they are the only ones in that category on Amazon. Though I do not know the first book “Transforming Discipleship” but I have some familiarity with the others and they are pretty good.
That brings me back to the question, “Is my life worth reproducing as a disciple of Christ?” Reproducible and contagious would be great words to eventually be able to use. May God help us all to have a passion for Christ.
